Hajia Fati finally released

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Fati Amadu has finally been released.

Hajia Fati Amadu and one other member of the party, Moses Abor were arrested for allegedly insulting and attacking party chairman Paul Afoko’s errand boy known as Atuluk after an ill-fated press conference.

A press conference by the national executives of Ghana’s main opposition, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) turned bloody on Tuesday when some angry party youth stormed the headquarters with machetes.

Some supporters of the party who were present sustained various degrees of injuries while a vehicle belonging to the national women’s organizer, Otiko Djaba was vandalized.

Some angry youth stormed the premises with matches and clubs which resulted in “a free for all fight,” according to Citi News Richard Sky who was covering the press conference.

Atuluk was said to have been attacked near the party’s headquarters.

It is however unclear whether he might have been attacked by people he had business transactions with.

Hajia Fati who contested for the position of Vice Chairman of the party during the Tamale congress was also accused of masterminding the attack.

The NPP press conference was to address the raging controversy over the decision to make the party’s acting Communications Director; Perry Okudzeto proceed on a two-year accumulated leave.
