The peace and quiet of Sampa, the capital of the Jaman North District in Bono-Ahafo was shattered yesterday in the afternoon when some gunmen on a motor bike carried out a daring attack.  Amidst indiscriminate shooting in the air, the robbers targeted CFA currency dealers, made away with unspecified amount of cash and shot and wounded one of the dealers who attempted to escape, before exiting into neighboring La Cote d Ivoire, where they are believed  to have come from.  In an interview eye witness, Nana Adinkrah said in the afternoon of yesterday between three and five pm, he saw three armed men on a Motorbike, who had obviously entered Ghana using an unapproved route.  He said amidst indiscriminate shooting they made for an area noted for CFA Currency dealers and robbed some of the operators.  According to the eye witness one dealer who attempted to run was shot in the leg.  Nana Adinkrah said during the mayhem, Security Officers including the Police and Immigration joined members of the public to run for dear life during the chaos.  He continued that some 45 minutes or so after the robbers has left; a military patrol team was ported in the town and were a roundly booed by the public for not being around to confront the armed robbers. The Develop Ghana Newspaper learnt that the Currency dealer who was shot in the leg is receiving treatment at the Sampa Government Hospital. Meanwhile a Jaman North District Security Committee (DISEC) meeting is planned for this morning to review the security situation in the area. When contacted the Sampa District Police Commander, DSP Williams Gyamfi, conformed the incident. He added that the attack was targeted at one particular currency dealer, who was the only person attacked and robbed by the Armed robbers. He also revealed that the injured has been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
