The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander, Maxwell Atingani has appealed to the public to assist them with information on a mystery shooting incident which claimed six lives at Tuobodom the capital of the Techiman North District of Brong Ahafo. The attack according to eye witnesses and the police was carried out by a masked gang carrying AK47 Assault rifles. An unspecified number of people also sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the Holy Family Hospital neighbouring Techiman. Develop Ghana Newspaper arrived in Tuobodom yesterday morning to find the town quiet and bereft of the usual hustle and bustle that characterizes it. Most shops were closed while no food or other vendors were in sight. The Local Market and Lorry station, normally a beehive of activities with trucks loading tomatoes to various destinations was as quite as a cemetery. There is some police and Military presence with officers patrolling the town people could be seen standing in groups discussing the incident. An eye witness, Peter Nketiah, who barely escaped with his life recounted what happened. Another Eyewitness, Yaw Baffoe told us about the shooting at the third spot where a victim died instantly. According to the eye witnesses after first round of shooting, the Gunmen spread around the town shooting indiscriminately killing more people including a pregnant woman at two other locations. The attackers also attempted to torch, without success the Family House of the Queen Mother of Tuobodom, Nana Akua Amoah, but succeeded in burning this taxi cab belonging to Kofi Adomah, who was at loss why his taxi was targeted. At the Tuobodom Police Station the Regional Police Commander, Maxwell Atingane, said they now have enough officers in the town to prevent any further trouble, adding that they need assistance by way of information from the public to unravel the mystery surrounding the incident. At the Tuobodom Chiefâ€™s Palace, the Chief, Nana Obeng Ameyaw Barima, was also at a loss as to how the deadly attack took place at this time or what could have triggered it. He however reminded the people that peace is a perquisite for development and urged them not to do any ting to set Tuobodomâ€™s development back. At the Techiman Holy Family Hospital, where the dead and the injured were taken to, the authorities declined to fill us in on what they had done in relation to the incident.
