Airtel Touching Lives continues to make a change as season 3 of the award winning Corporate Social Responsibility programme gathers more steam.
Episode four of the series tells the story of two outstanding individuals; 17 year old Benedicta and Fatau, an amputee at Salaga.
The dreams and aspirations of a 17 year old Benedicta, a student of Asesewa Senior High School (SHS) to became a trained nurse has been given a lifeline by Airtel Touching Lives.
The future of Benedicta’s education hanged in the balance as she battled the odds with determination to become a role model to her generation.
Her dream is to become a nurse so she could also contribute to the development of her community; but her education was under threat, as she faced challenges in paying her fees and buying books for her studies at school.
Her Uncle, Brupeh Bismark, tries his best to provide his niece’s educational needs but has problems of his own making his efforts very limited.
As a result, Benedicta works after school and often skips classes to make extra money to cater for her school needs. During vacations she sells water to help pay her fees.
Also as the youngest in her family, she has a duty to attend to all errands and household chores leaving her with very little time with her books.
Selorm, Benedicta’s teacher and nominator says in spite of her challenges, her determination at school is commendable.
“She is focused and a determined student .All things being equal she can make ‘A’ in all her subjects.â€
Airtel, through its Touching Lives programme, has therefore offered to fund her education through SHS together with books to ensure she excels in her final examination.
Additionally, if she makes the grades to gain admission into Nursing Training College, Airtel has promised to foot all her bill during her training to help her become a successful nurse.
